Ladies and gentlemen, the legend is back and by the legend I mean the return of James Gunn’s Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol 2, and from the outlooks, tone, and feel, the pre-hype was finally justified.
The premise picks up from the 1st iteration whereby they are now guns for hire after saving the galaxy, and their latest job involves guard duty on an alien planet. The mission takes an interesting turn as Rocket Raccoon steals the plot device to start the movie rolling, leading to a cavalcade of humor, action and a trip down memory lane for many a comic fan.
The soundtrack, the heart of what made the 1st movie memorable comes back in snazzy fashion, bringing Millenials a new reason to rediscover golden classics. The collection of cameos from the previous movies as well as some of the more iconic figures in the Marvel Universe brings a lot of flavor to this wacky universe as well as some well-placed cameos.
The action scenes are well placed, while as always, GoTG 2 never really took itself too seriously with the pace always leading to a sudden drop in pace whereby it falls back to its wacky characters and their personalities.
Also included in this section for badassery is the amazing flair of Yondu.
Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol 2 is easily one of Marvels greatest hits yet especially under the careful care that James Gunn takes when producing his movies. Also, don’t forget to stay behind for the credits as this time there will be 5 end-credit scenes which answer a few plot holes and pushes the Marvel storyline to a whole new era.
